She ran. The darkness was closing in on them. Quickly, her mother piled them into the station wagon. The baby boy sat crying in the middle of the back seat with her sister by her side. Father drove speedily down the highway, racing from the darkness. Their mother, panic-stricken, clutched his hand in the front seat as the car sped on. No time, no time, no time. The darkness had found them. She stood in the clearing, the bodies of her family surrounding her. She walked towards the town as the hunger ate her from inside. It focused all her energy into satisfying it. Their screams filled the air. The warm, rich elixir traveled over her tongue and down her throat. She craved more, the hunger called her. Finally satisfied, the hunger slept. She stood in the center, their lifeless dead eyes looking back at her. She screamed …
